The reality of refugees in Brazil
Brazil has already recognized 156,612 refugees by the end of 2024 (CONARE/MJSP). Most of them come from Venezuela, a result of the largest humanitarian crisis in Latin America , but there are also people from several other countries who have found here the chance to start over.
Behind this number, there are stories of resilience, courage and the desire to rebuild lives.
Still, the challenge of integration is enormous: more than half (55%) of refugees are unemployed, which represents around 86,000 people who have talents and experiences, but have not yet had the opportunity to put them into practice.
The remaining 45% are already employed, whether in the formal or informal market, or temporarily inactive. This shows that when an opportunity arises, refugees respond with dedication, effort, and real results.
These numbers go beyond statistics: they reveal the size of the human, social and economic potential that can be activated when companies and organizations decide to open their doors.
Employing refugees is much more than providing income—it's transforming lives, strengthening communities, and creating lasting impact.
